Local Priorities Violence against women and girls (VAWG) Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violence against women and girls (VAWG), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

🌙✨ Staying Safe When You're Out at Night ✨🌙
Whether you're heading home 🚶, meeting friends 🍽️, walking the dog 🐕, or enjoying an evening out 🌃, taking a few simple precautions can help keep you safe.
🦺 Be seen
Wear bright or high-visibility clothing, especially if you're near roads or walking through darker areas.
🎧 Stay aware of your surroundings
If you're listening to music, keep the volume low enough to hear what's going on around you.
💡 Choose well-lit routes
Stick to busy, well-lit streets whenever possible and avoid isolated shortcuts.
📱 Keep your phone charged
Make sure your device has enough battery in case you need help or need to contact someone.
📍 Use familiar routes
Sticking to places you know well can help you stay alert to anything unusual.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Let someone know your plans
Tell a friend or family member where you're going and when you expect to be home.
🚨 Trust Your Instincts 🚨
If something doesn't feel right, don't ignore it.
🏃 Move to a busier, well-lit area.
🏪 Step into a shop, restaurant, or other public place.
📞 Call a friend or family member.
🚔 If you're in immediate danger or a crime is taking place, call 999.
If you feel uncomfortable or want to report suspicious behaviour that isn't an emergency:
📲 Report online via your local police website
☎️ Call 101 to speak with police
💙 Your safety matters. Stay aware, stay connected, and trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right.
